Born Roberto Valverde in Cali, Colombia, in 1955, he was given the nickname "Robo" by his bandmates in Black Flag for his robotic drumming style.

From 1978 to 1981, Robo was the drummer for US punk band Black Flag, performing on the EPs 'Jealous Again', 'Six Pack', and their first full-length album 'Damaged'. His tenure in Black Flag ended when, upon completing a tour of England, it was discovered that Robo's visa was expired and he was deported from the UK to Colombia.

Robo ed The Glenn Danzig any longer.

After leaving The Misfits, it was said that he spent some time in New Jersey, working with the Caiafa brothers (Doyle (3)) for their father. After a while he fell off the radar and there was some word that he may have returned to his native Colombia.

Robo re-appeared in 2001 when he ed the Misfits for their 25th anniversary tour and returned to the band again in 2005. He also played with Black Flag at their 2003 cat benefit reunion show.

In 2010, Robo was removed from the Misfits after problems with his Colombian port made touring problematic for the band.
