Born and grew up in Galveston, TX, he was a core member of the early 1970s progressive soul band Maxayn, 3 album from 1972 to 1974. Following the Maxayn break-up he did work and record with the late Johnny ”Guitar” Watson. This association led to landmark Gold albums of the 1970’s, including "Ain’t That a Bitch! and "The Real Mother for Ya".
