Music club , located in district 36, Kreuzberg, Berlin, and still stands today. It takes its name from the historic postcode of that area SO36, in which the SO stands for Südost (South East).
The Kreuzberg district has historically been home to the Berlin punk rock movement, as well as other alternative subcultures in .
In those days the club rivalled New York's CBGB as one of the finest new-wave venues in the world.
In 1978 at the 12./13. of august as a ironical memorial day as a remembrance of the 17th anniversary year of the beginning of the construction of the "Berlin Wall" they organised the first wall construction festival with such bands like Mittagspause, Male, S.Y.P.H., DIN A Testbild, Ffurs, Stukka Pilots und PVC and more. It was one of the first "top" NDW-festivals.
Later rising to international top acts like Einstürzende Neubauten, just to name a few, played there at the heydays of the punk/new wave movement.
