Glam Slam, Miami

Profile:

Glam Slam Miami was the American nightclub established by Glam Slam single, it was the final venue in the chain, after Minneapolis (October 90 — September 95), Yokohama (December 91 — December 93), and Los Angeles (January 93 — August 95). Primarily known as "Glam Slam" (with a different typeface in the logo), the club was referred to as "Glam Slam Miami" on some official merchandise.

In May 1994, Chaka Khan). Paisley Park Enterprises paid $1 million to the Brandt family, the building owners, for the 13-year lease. Around the same time, Prince sent a representative to scout potential locations in Vancouver, Canada, to no avail.

On 7 June 1994, Glam Slam in Miami Beach opened with Prince's "first" birthday celebration as an unpronounceable 'O(+>' symbol. The club, with a capacity of 1,500 visitors, was packed, and the grand opening was billed as "the first-ever interactive party," with a satellite link-up between all three Glam Slam clubs — Minneapolis and Los Angeles had broadcast the event in real-time on video screens. Prince performed with a core P Control video). In the evening, Prince and the NPG gave a sold-out concert at the Florida club.

In January 1996, Glam Slam was shut down after a police raid, as the undercover investigation revealed drug dealing on the premises and numerous fire code violations; the liquor license was suspended. The club briefly reopened on 18 May 1996 but only lasted for a week, unable to overcome all the negative publicity; rumors circulated that Prince wanted to sell. Glam Slam opened again in July 1997, sub-leased to new management and sporting a custom blue sphere logo. Prince played an "aftershow" set on 16 August 1997, following the Doug E. Fresh. Shortly after this memorable gig, Glam Slam closed permanently.

A few different nightclubs subsequently occupied the location, including Deco's Nightclub, Level, and, most notably, The Mansion. On 18 March 2006, Prince performed at the Mansion as the guitarist for DJ Rashida on turntables. (This show marked Prince's sole confirmed public appearance at any of the former Glam Slam locations.) In 2015, the Mansion closed, replaced by the Icon nightclub for nine months and the Copa Room Miami (circa 2016 – June 2017). Today, the location is occupied by Club M2.
