referencing Doomsday Machine (CD, Album) FO520CD
Let’s get one thing straight: Doomsday Machine is a melodic death metal juggernaut, a sharp-as-hell weapon in Arch Enemy’s arsenal, and one of the strongest moments in their Angela Gossow-fronted era. Released in 2005 and packaged here in its Russian jewelcase edition (Фоно – FO520CD), this album is full of rage, riffage, and that classic Arch Enemy melodic flare that punches you in the teeth while making your head spin from how damn catchy it is.
The Amott brothers waste no time melting faces — “My Apocalypse” brings huge melodic solos and soaring dual guitar harmonies, “Carrying the Cross” slaps with a riff that nods to AC/DC while going full death metal carnage. And yeah, “Nemesis” is the jewel in the crown — with its empowering chorus, raging tremolo riff, and Angela Gossow’s iconic roar of “We are one!”, it’s a full-body adrenaline shot.
But this beast isn’t just speed and power — songs like “Soul of a Nation” and “Machtkampf” show a grittier, groovier side, while “I Am Legend / Out for Blood” throws in tempo shifts and unpredictable structure, keeping even seasoned fans guessing. The instrumental “Hybrid of Steel” offers a breather but never lets go of that metallic tension.
Sure, not every track is gold (“Skeleton Dance” might not hit as hard), but overall Doomsday Machine stands as a testament to the band’s ambition to evolve while never betraying their roots. It’s got grit, guts, and plenty of attitude — perfect for blasting in the gym, your car, or the middle of a mosh pit.

What can I say! Great pressing! Everything sounds crystal clear and there is 0 surface noise, pops/clicks! Highly recommended!

Happy to have a copy of this but mine is pretty damn warped. Tonearm bouncing around even with a record clamp in place

This has always been one most well produced albums that I have ever listened to, and somehow putting it on to vinyl has made it better. You can hear the air move around the bass pedal! It also played with no noise, straight out of the plastic wrap.

Excellent guitar work as usual from Arch Enemy. Here we see the lyrics really mature and for the most part, a move away from anti-Christian resent. This album is brilliant because they take the concept of death (and death metal) and turn it into an allegory for overcoming tragedy in one's life.
