The Stylistics – The Best Of The Stylistics

The Stylistics recorded a few of the greatest ballads EVER, and they're all right here. Some of the best Philly Soul of the 70's. This pressing sounds good, with solid range from top to bottom, and a lush, warm, beautifully detailed soundstage. My copy doesn't look too pretty but plays nice and clean, with zero skips, light surface noise at the beginning of each side, and faint surface noise between tracks.

I found this record in a thrift store for $1 and had no Idea who they were (before anyone jumps on me this album came out years before I was born lol) anyway I liked the cover and I figured it might be worth checking out. So I got home cleaned it up and put it on not expecting much to be honest and boy was I in for a surprise. These guys absolutely kill it all the way through the album from front to back. I was thinking how do I not know about these guys? I know a lot about popular music from every decade since the early 1900's across all genres. The fact that I have never heard anything about The Stylistics and they aren't a household name shows how society has failed us all I was listening to the record I kept saying to my Dad "Hey I know this one great song, oh wow another great song,, and Wait they did this song? I love this song..That's pretty much how it went for the entire album lol So definitely highly recommend this pressing it sounds great and it's quiet.

Awesome classic songs! Every song is a hit! Have to play it twice every time.

for what it's worth, i really love this pressing. it sounds fantastic.

Now I have two copies of this I'm inspired to buy every copy I find in a charity shop (on any given day there is one for sale somewhere in every town in the UK), and fill an entire record storage cube full of them, then place it in a local park. Because that's art, and this fucking stupid hobby is all about art.

This eventual global album was originally compiled in London by Phonogram. It's a great LP to have BUT like most things it's seriously and needlessly flawed.
1. Rockin' Roll Baby is the edited single and looses the guitar break and the fade out (don't you just love USA Radio, shabby or what!)
2. People Make The Word Go Round is totally destroyed and lost in this vile edit NOTHING but the full 6 min+ version can ever do it's a Philly gem and classic.

The USA version of thi$ came out a year later and B2 Stop, Look Listen was substituded for the USA Radio edit (again!!) of Heavy Falling Out. Canada like they do, also followed the USA version.

Whilst I like HFO it was switched to boost sales of the USA "Heavy" album (UK Title From The Mountain). Stop Look Listen was/is a very important Philly track and if a track had to go then IMO "You're A Big Girl Now" although their first USA Avco-Embassy single would have been much less of loss than SLL .
