Hawkwind – Levitation

IMO this is Hawkwind's best complete album, I own this original UK blue pressing and the first German press on black vinyl, Hawkwind - Levitation, and I have to say I prefer the German press. The OG blue press sounds thin and a little harsh in comparison, the German press having a fuller and smoother sound. But it's a great album either way, Ginger on drums and Huw on guitar is hard to beat.

Don't believe the original release or this reissue ever came with a booklet. Sometimes copies turn up with concert programmes included (from the time), but these were not issued with the record when new.

Terrific album, the first one I bought of HW in 1981 - a great start. I subsequently collected everything else they released until 2017, but still rate this as one of their top 3.

My discs were pretty much flat.
Super quiet for coloured vinyl.
Was a bit nervous when I found out it was blue.
Studio album is what the doctor ordered.
Great mastering.
Live set is a bit muffled, but great to hear Ginger Baker bringing his A game.
Huw Lloyd does a great job as well!
A bit of attenuation and its an enjoyable set.

I’m not even vaguely religious but, really, God bless Ginger.

Well,the original studio album is such a masterpiece - lousy live versions don’t impress… however nice blue pressing for diehard fans.

My first foray into HW CD's (purchased in '88) and what a great start this was! A fantastic sounding album which is still one of my favourites that I regularly play today. Five stars from me.

This version of Motorway City is also on the Hawkwind ‎- Zones, as is "The Island" which was apparently recorded at this gig.
