Michael Brook – Night Song

Probably my all-time favorite Real World Records release outside of Peter Gabriel's own catalog. This is an almost other-worldly (at the very least decidedly non-traditional) display of the incredibly vocal talents of Nusrat Fatah Ali Khan. The partnership of Khan and guitarist/producer Michael Brook takes the atmospheric experimentation of their 'Mustt Mustt' (1990) to a whole new level. Five stars aren't enough for this gem.

Weak pressing that doesn’t really capture anything more than a digital …a shame as it’s a good album.

wonderfully pressed, albeit a bit soft. my copy also contained the with an additional remix track. super stoked to own this soul stirring album on vinyl.

On the back cover it says " contains two unreleased tracks" ???
And on sticker it says " contains one unreleased song "???
And the best of all - THERE IS NO !

It is a shame that this first vinyl issue does not any right to a great man ,
No printed inner/s , no ( sticker say there is one ! ).

Does anyone have a colored version of this? It was supposed to be out for the Record Store Day and some online stores sells it as a colored vinyl, but mine is not.

Unfortunately pretty much background noise, especially side B, not typical for Real World, a label that normally delivers decent pressings...

Qawwali should fill an audience with ecstasy, energy, enlightenment; although most western listeners have little understanding of specific song meanings or the Sufi background, they can still experience an exhilarating uplift when they hear a great singer like Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan.
