referencing Gargoyle (LP, Album) NRR40
Super solid traditional Heavy/Speed Metal. By 1988 this style had fallen mostly out of favor with Thrash's dominance and early Death Metal gaining in popularity. But make no mistake, this is great stuff and proof that quality Heavy Metal is timeless. I also appreciate that the vocalist isn't just trying to imitate Geoff Tate and instead delivers his own, fitting, style that is never overblown. Writing this, I'm realizing that this really should be considered "mandatory" for lovers of traditional Metal. The production here seems quite a bit better than the majority of other New Renaissance titles and so that also works in its favor!
