I wish Olmec Heads would have remixed Rock The Block.
That would have been epic! -

In the dawn of the new millenium Sash! released the album Trilenium. The third album and perhaps one of their best. Imo Trilenium is a reason to like Eurotrance music. What i always liked in techno-rave-trance music is the collaboration with multiply vocalists. Sash! do it not only with success, but in different languages English, Spanish, French and Danish (i think). The male vocals are in the right tracks and so do the female vocals. The arpegiator in the sequence melodies in position.
What i like in most of Sash!'s tracks is the variety in melody. This isn't just three-four notes in the arpegiator. The melody has depth, fluctuations, colour. It has a beauty ed most of the times with calm female vocals like With my own eyes, Together again -omg what a song!!!!- . Rock the block, Adelande and Show me the right way are trully dancefloor kickers. You can dance all night hearing them.
Le soleil noir is a track moving in the path of Robert Miles (notice the bass line and you will understand what i mean). A quite peacefull yet melodic trance track.
Just around the hill looks like the ballad that every techno album must have. Not bad. Tell me now is Boy George like track. ( Run Sash! feat. Boy George?).
Trilenium is a dark, acid track not in the mood of the other tracks in the album. Lasts 5 minutes but is the dark kind of music you like to hear and dance in the clubs.
Halleluja....I don't know the meaning of existance of a Christmass mood song in a trance album.
Destination unknown, Multiply teaser are trance anthems in the right queue. Massive and hard. But, what triggered my attention mostly was Chill out no 1. The best way to close the album. Ambient track one of the best i've ever heard. So calm and mind travelling and it lasts only 4 and a half minutes. Why? In the air part 2 in Dune's Expedition and ...In the end in Dune's first album? 10 minutes trip into ambient. Chill out no 1 is the radio version of those two. -

By the time we get to Sash!'s third album, it appears they're beginning to sell out. Apart from "Rock The Block" and "Adelante", all other dance tracks are starting to sound cheesy in a "Italy '94" kind of way, being only bearable.
As for the "experimental" tracks, "Just Around The Hill" is an absolutely dreadful ballad, nothing to do with the rest of the album, while "Chill Out No. 1" sounds just like a badly failed experiment that we have to endure for over 4 minutes. Only "My Kind Of Blues", with its rock/breakbeat touches holds any of my interest, while the lack of a Sash!/Nonex d&b collaboration is missed.
