Great gig, unbalanced track-picking.
I have seen these guys live a bunch of times and man, they kick ass. They put effort into playing difficult guitar solo's perfectly live on stage. That's very hard, but I respect bands that do not ignore difficult songs without the use of pre-taped stuff.
This release captures the Machine Head atmosphere at their live concerts very well. What's a shame is that it isn't a dvd-included pack so you can also see that what makes you come to the shows for sure. The last and only live-dvd was "Elegies" and pre-dates the incredible Blackening album. I would have loved to see this show on dvd.
If you never went to a show you probably think the title is a bit cheesy, but if you're going to make a live-album you might as well name it after the audiences screams, the phrase they yell every show; "Machine Fucking Head".
The tracklist on this release provides us with shows probably somewhere close after releasing the "Unto The Locust" album, since all songs but one are present. Unfortunately that leaves very little room for the other Machine Head albums. The last 2 albums make up 9 of the 15 songs present on this release. So if you're a fan of the earlier stuff this one's not for you.
To sum up: Great performance! Missing the dvd! Unbalanced track picking.
