Vashti Bunyan – Just Another Diamond Day

I've just got my copy today and I've listened to it twice. The sound is clean and nice, the vocals are quite loud but overall it has a good sound. My copy has surface noises through the record, it is brand new so it's a bit surprising but not too annoying especially if the volume is higher. I'd like to compare it to the 2019 Branch clear release as I've read the reviews that it sounds extremely clear and excellent. Overall I'm pleased with my copy knowing I'll never own an original 1970 copy in my life.

Just checked in to see prices as I’ve not bothered since I bought my VG+ copy in London in 1987 for £150.
You have to understand it wasn’t that rare back then, shop I bought from in Brixton isn’t there now and closed decades ago, had two copies.
Pre internet, people just didn’t want these records back then. Only a handful of outsider music fans were interested in this stuff.
You could pull now called ‘rare’ albums for cheap because there wasn’t a real market for them outside of a few collectors.
I built my collection from car boot sales, jumble sales, charity shops and the like.
The last 30 years have shown that everyone wants to be a record collector.
In those days people wanted CDs not records.
It was great for me! :)
Look at niche music that’s not selling now, that’s the stuff that’ll be rare in 30 years.

Everything about this is brilliant, except the price. The artwork is beautiful, and the colours and texture are just sublime, even down to the labels is done perfectly. Nice to have a recreation of the original sleeve too. The vinyl is dead silent, and the music is gorgeous. Must be one of my best sounding records. So clear, and so detailed. I haven't noticed any of the distortion mentioned in other comments. Is it worth £350? In my opinion, yes. Or at least I'm happy with my purchase. Would I like to pay less? Yes, but that's with everything. I'm not sure if you should pay any more than that. It depends on how much you love the album.

Incredible quality. Clear vinyl always seems to sound better to me, anyway this must be one of the best sounding records in my collection, get it while its still in print! I can't imagine the £1.5+ original sounding any better than this

Any opinions on the sound of this pressing is much appreciated.

From the ERC Website: "Cut directly from the original analog master tapes, through our unique all valve 1965 Ortofon vinyl cutting system in stereo. No equalisation, compression or any other processing was added during the cutting process." - this should settle the debate whether or not this LP is cut from the original analog master tapes or not.

Along with the Terry Callier and the John Lee Hooker, this is yet another knock-it-out-of-the-park folk release from ERC. More in this vein please.

The artwork also looks so beautiful on this; wow. Someone’s gotta do this!
