The Steve Miller Band* – Circle Of Love

Mine has a lót of sibilance. Is this normal for this release?

Perhaps this CD has the full version of Macho City without the 2.08 minute shaved off the intro as apparently other CD versions and Vinyl.
Was there a Promo 12” vinyl single with the full 18.32 minute run time or a LP version? Many releases of the LP album run time and CD’s of Macho City are only 16.24 minutes.

Side A is his "usual" stuff. Side B's "Macho City" is the cut. A near masterpiece that was adopted by David Mancuso at the LOFT.

Space-funk rock with a Floyd inspiration at times. Excellent. If you don't care for the rapped lyrics, fast forward through the first 3 minutes or so though--this track is pretty much an instrumental--a great one.

Most Miller fans did not "get" "Macho City" and dismissed it upon release, but we know better..

This album is worth owning even if just for Macho City, the bass and synths on this 18+ minute track are incredible, they just seem to jump right out of the speakers in full force.( I have a clean original Australian vinyl pressing that sounds fantastic)
As far as Steve Miller Band albums go, Children of the Future and Sailor will always be my favourites( and I highly recommend them if you've never heard them)
In saying that I'm also a massive fan of 1970s- early 1980s synths, although some would consider them dated I just think there's a primal and haunting quality to them that's timeless to me.
Overall I guess it just shows how versatile The Steve Miller Band is that they can successfully dabble in so many different musical styles.
By the way Side 1 of this lp is more pop/guitar focused, the guitar shines on the opening track Heart Like a Wheel and bass comes back to the forefront on Baby Wanna Dance.
ittedly I bought this album afew years back, played it once and then stored it away not giving it much thought.
Afew days ago I pulled it out, gave it a spin and then another and then another.
Funny how an album can be sitting in your collection for afew years just waiting for you to give it some time to find the golden parts in it.

Steve Miller could turn his hand to many styles of music.... but principally blues, west coast rock, funk and psychedelia.
On this album he turned his attention to disco-not-disco and the 18 minute, side-long excursion he called Macho City.
This epic piece of slow-burn funk ebbs and flows with all the majesty of the changing seasons. The incredible instrumental section alloys a massive bassline to an immense bank of special effects ... the synths and echoed guitar are wild.
I played this in a club one night ... yes, the entire 18:32 minutes.
