pops and hisses at the outer and inner edges of the record but the actual grooves pretty clean

My copy sounds immaculate! It sounds as clean and soulful and eerie as it did the first time I streamed it.

It only took me 3 different copies, but there's clean and pop free versions of this pressing that exist. When you get a good copy, you're thankful lol

one of my favorite albums, but unfortunately my copy is quiet and sounds pretty muddy especially as you get closer to the label. sounds much better digitally so i probably wouldn't buy this again if i could go back :(

Indeed the playback volume is pretty low, and matching the volume also increases the noise floor. Unfortunate. Otherwise the record sounds great.
My copy also didn't come with codes.

Grabbed a more recent copy it seems. No subpop hype sticker and code. Definitely sounds better than the OG, surface noise is still noticeable in the quieter ages but not intolerable like the 2019 pressing. Some snaps and cracks not but outright crackly to the point you can’t hear the music, again like the 2019 press. Definitely a step up! I can give a few cleansing to hopefully quiet down the noise — but already liking this pressing a lot. Mastering and music quality has not changed much

Definitely one of the more quiet records in my collection, but once you crank your speakers up the sound is phenomenal. The comments on this pressing kind of put me off on buying the record, but I personally think it sounds great. I should note my copy didn’t come with a code, so it’s probably a more recent pressing with better sound than the original from 2019

Frustrating, this is my favourite record of all time. Just the most beautiful songwriting and just perfect Baroque Pop instrumentation. A perfect album for Vinyl. Sadly like 90% of the reviews here, it has awful surface noise. I've had 3 copies, I've run them through an Ultrasonic and it still sounds like a campfire. The dynamics are alright but when it's been mastered at such a low volume the pops become so obvious it hurts knowing there is so much potential for an amazing listening experience under the popcorn. I hope one day we get another pressing of this truly stunning record to do it justice.
