Edited 2 years agoSlightly noisy but nothing unbearable. I wouldn't say the sound is any worse than the reissues you can still find in stores, but I wouldn't say it's significantly better either. Sounds like Botorfinger.
The colors are pretty great too. My copy of disc 1 seems to have a white spec somewhere on it, which I tried washing off before noticing that it has grooves going through it, so I think somehow a white vinyl bead slipped in the press with the rest? Not too sure. Other than that, it looks great. Disc 2 looks great as well with no complaints to be said.
Would I recommend this to someone who just wants to hear Botorfinger? No. I see no reason to. Would I recommend this to a big Soundgarden fan who wants a special version of a favorite? Yeah probably. I definitely don't regret having it and I play it all the time (and every time I do I hold disc 1 up to a light and say "woah"). -
Restock on the Soundgarden website as of July 2022! Also on Merchbar.

Edited 3 years agoMy copy was covered in debris from the pressing plant, and with cheapo-paper sleeves, grrr. Thankfully after a cleaning there was no real damage, and the sound is much better my single-disc 2016 version (Soundgarden - Botorfinger)of this album, waaaaay better. Less compression, drums and bass feel more punchy, just better all around. Also I was worried that the complex etch on side D would mess with the sound of side C, but there doesn't seem to be any noticeable problems, aside from a little bit of edge warp.
All in all I feel lucky to have snagged this off their website, I just wish the pressing plant had cleaned em a bit better before packing. I also wish they'd used poly-lined sleeves at least, especially since this is a "special-edition" and what-not.
Overall pleased with it though, big upgrade from the older version. Get one if you can but clean it lol. -
Anyone know where this was pressed at?
I got mine direct from the Soundgarden store.. LE colored wax version still in stock in 2021! -
Edited 4 years agoI don't know if there is some major variation in the second disc color, but mine looks nothing like the picture here. It is basically maroon with some purple and red splatter.

Red disk sounds great the purple has a noticeable hiss throughout. Not terrible, I wouldn’t pay $70+ though.

Edited 4 years agoAbsolutely hands down fantastic pressing. No pops or hiss, wide soundstage. Flat Vinyls no warps, high quality overall. The 2016 silver vinyl seemed to have quality issues and poor quality sound, they may have fixed those issues with this 2019 release, and I have always been apprehensive about colored vinyl but this one is a gem!

Edited 4 years agoJust got a copy from The Sound of Vinyl (U.S.) with a 10% discount for $34 after shipping.
Edit: It sounds amazing btw -
I've got a copy of this where both vinyls are grey, not red or purple. It's variant 2 - with the "Alex iii" etching. Bar code on back of sleeve is 6 02557 24724 4
