Jan21. Not sure how this turned up in my recommended list, but here we are. Is this what the kids call 'shoegaze'? Far too much electronics for my mind, and very slow and spacey. If I have to give this a positive spin I will say the best bits here approach Spiderbait's worst poppy songs. Some searing guitars finally come out 6 songs in for 'Just Like You', which has a little Sonic Youth about it.
Luckily, there are some better moments in the second half. I was about to skip the rest. 'Lazy Lane' and 'Be Love' were also decent, but the vocals are buried so far in the mix they may as well not have them. Still, the distorted guitars sound like Nirvana on their jams like 'Endless Nameless'.
I thought I had two songs playing simultaneously on my computer when 'The Same Again' came on. Wow. Not sure how you take something like this in.
Thankfully, this album got better. Not something I would listen to often, but in the right mood, maybe. Maybe I just don't reach the 'state' that might be required to give in to this? 2.5/5
