Edited 7 years agoGreat metal album with a killer flair for composition and riffs... and the incomparable Graham Bonnet on vocals. This and No Parole From Rock 'n' Roll by Alcatrazz (another group with Bonnet at the helm) are real 80's era sleepers.
Soundwise, I find this pressing to benefit from the use of good studio monitor speakers. Through the $20 thrift store speakers I've been happily using for years, it felt as if there was a lack in bass... but a forced a pair of Yorkville studio monitors REALLY makes this one rock with a much expanded soundstage, bigger bass and enhanced punch factor, far overshadowing the somewhat rolled-off highs. Great stuff.
Just be aware that this, being a picture disc, has an inherently higher noise floor than any old record, with a high amount of rumble in between tracks, but the music overpowers it and sounds good enough that the technical limitations of the picture disc format are easily forgiven. 👌
