Just for reference, never really listened to Iron Maiden. Apart from their top hits like "The Trooper" and "Run To The Hills". I decided to pick this album to give it a try, as well as try Iron Maiden out.
I chose this album out of the 2 available when I was shopping. I chose Powerslave because when I see people rank Iron Maidens discography or say what their favourite album, this is pretty much always on top.
Only song I knew off it was "2 Minutes To Midnight", tho that was it. I can truthfully say that this is a fantastic album and really enjoyable to listen to. -
Wow such a lovely album. Wich turns 40 in september. Would be great if we get to see a Anniversary series of: cassette, lp and gold cd. Innit you guys? Or just one item like with the first album and t.n.o.t.b.?

Trump got elected and I kept thinking about how 2 Minutes To Midnight pretty much summed up our global situation. A man who, at the time of the writing of this review, is threatening Korea and ramping up the rhetoric to include nuclear weapons. It seems that no matter where in the world, or where in time, the lyrics of Maiden apply.
Aces High is a brutal look at the life of the crews defending England from the Blitz in World War 2. It puts the listener right THERE. The music is perfect as is the singing, but the words and meaning are like a dentist's drill hammering straight to the heart of the matter (or your teeth).
Then, they hammer you hard with Powerslave.
And after all that, they retell the Rime of the Ancient Mariner, an epic poem from 1797. This is why Maiden is so timeless. They tell epic stories with blistering guitar, perfect drums and a singer with the sound of an air raid siren. This is NOT mindless metal. -

Just picked up a CD from the last year or two here in the US that doesn't have Churchill's Speech to kick off the album, kinda bummed me out. I'll have to figure out exactly what CD this is so buyers can look elsewhere.

This press is fantastic! I've been listening to this album since I was 14 with different formats (Cassette / CD) and I've never heard it so well. I bought this edition a year ago with a rating of VG+ (with many signs of use) and the truth is that it plays without clicks or pops and the sound is brilliant. I can’t be happier with this record.
