My discs are flat, centered, quiet, and presents a wide / deep 3d soundstage with a broad and busy dynamic range. My stack succeeds imaging this remaster revealing details I never heard across non-vinyl formats. Impressive, detailed slam w/super clear instrumentation and vocals.
The More You Know: Achtung Baby was recorded using a hybrid of digital & analog techniques.

Great press, dynamics are full and have great separation. Plenty of low end, soundscape is large. Seeing other comments, I’m gonna say, this is not a one size fits all mastering. At the time U2 were doing a lot of studio experimentation. This record has a a ton of panning tricks and saturated in reverb. So this will not play well with all setups. Recommend you have detailed speakers and a sub.

The mastering on this one is fantastic. Huge soundstage and deep deep bass. Blows away every CD and digital version I've ever heard, like hearing it for the first time.

not happy with this one at all - it is swayed so much into the highs that it gives me a piercing headache after 2 songs. i thought it had to do with my setup at first but out of the hundreds of other albums i have this is the only one with this extreme treble attribute. too bad - judging by others reviews here maybe its just my pressing..

Edited 2 years agoThe reviews here are very split! I have to put myself on Team “This is great”, without hesitation. I don’t have the physical ’91 cd handy, but I can say after having heard it hundreds of times, this sounds even better. To be fair, a couple of equipment pieces are better now, but even my original system was great (enough )with CDs, and the details and depth on many of the songs are just amazing on my copy of this pressing. There are times it sounds like I’m standing next to the mic that is pointed at the kick drum, hearing the residual vibrations on the skin. It’s simply stunning. Rarer still that every single track is as solid as the next.

I can’t understand everyones praise for this LP. There was so little bass on this i thought something was wrong with my setup.
-
Superb mastering and pressing - the only flaw being the lack of a gatefold sleeve; a constant complaint. Inner artwork / poster are all top notch.
-
a fabulous master of an absolute classic. Its always had a dense sound to my ears but this pressing has volume and power which the original cd didn't (mastered very quietly). Absolutely delighted as its in my all time top 5

My friend lent me this record to give a spin on my system to see what my opinion was of this pressing and the truth is I was disappointed. Compared with the original pressing it is multiple steps down in sound quality. The bass is muddled, Bono's vocals are flatter and it sounds like it's compressed. The original album did have a very low background noise to the pressing (this reissue is dead quiet). The separation of instruments on the original is night and day, not even close. Clayton's bass leads the charge on every song. Every single song sound vastly better on the original pressing. If you have the money (it's not crazy expensive) and this is one of your all time fave albums, spring for the orignal.
