Hey, wait, this is actually good! So, we all know Californication has a "sound problem", and by sound problem, I mean it's terrible. The sound is terrible, you can't listen to this album with headphones, it's more than likely to give you a headache or two. When I got this vinyl, I was expecting, low quality vinyl with terrible sound, but when I listened to it, hey, it's good, it's quite good! The sound isn't perfect or super dynamic, but it's higher quality than the versions we can find on CD and streaming, and it actually has dynamics! Well, they aren't amazing, but at least, the sound has a bit of soul and live. And for the price, you can't be dissapointed. The only 2 complains I have, is that, first, if each side of the record is about 10-15 minutes long, why don't you just make the record in 45 RPM? Sure, it'll be more expensive, but the sound quality could be improved by this, and it wouldn't waste that much vinyl. And the second complain, is the boxing. It's quite uncomfortable to have 2 discs in a package for 1, they could have done it like a gatefold vinyl, it would be awesome. Well, go check out this pressing, its great, and I recommend it. Don't expect super high quality, but this is probably the best this album will ever sound. 8.5/10

Information for those who think that there is something wrong with their edition: in fact, this album was intended to sound dry, harsh, monophonic. You can read the album's recording history and fans' criticism :) So there are no complaints about the vinyl here - it sounds great, clean, there is a small amount of minor noise in a couple of places, but I'm very happy with this edition. The album is gorgeous! Just don't expect to hear volume and musical scene in it, it won't happen.

I'm keeping this one!! CB recut and audio wise good sounding vinyl!!! Punchy bass and crunchy guitar tone and volume! It could be better, but not bad at all, and yes...you can hear distortion. Shame the inner sleeves are made of paper and bad quality! I've got the OG Bloor Sugar Sex Magik and it got double inner sleeve goodness with lyrics on both sleeves!! Maybe for the 30th anniversary they'll do the un-mastered version? You wish...

Great sounding reissue. A bit more clarity in the highs and solid bass. A friend commended that for the first time he heard stuff he could not hear on the cd.

My copie is dead quiet,no surface noise at all.
The sound is a bit bright on some tracks but overall is great.
I'm glad i finally took the chance with this one considering
The comments not always in favor. -

Edited 2 years agoApparently Rick Rubin forgot what a good production and mix are. Many of his productions since 2000 sound so flat….
Last good production of Rick Rubin : One Hot Minute. -
Certainly better sound than the CD version, but still a loudness war. But the separation of instruments is very good and there are some sounds that I heard for the first time and some sounds sound more spacious
