Founder and most famous member Butch Vig gained experience with producing the wildest guitar rock of the 1990s (Nirvana, Sonic Youth, L7) but wanted in his own project Garbage too are pop and dance preferences. In Shirley Manson found the gentleman's club of Vig and Steve Marker and Duke Erikson his companions a singer with a fine singing voice and a perfect, quasi-ordinary look. A plate of Garbage is on all sides thought out and that gave the music in the past every now and then a clinical character. On Beautifulgarbage is that fortunately hardly the case anymore. The band grows slowly but surely from a perfect pop group. Rock and dance-influences are not gone, but are more and more integrated into an organic, typical Garbagegeluid. The songs are all strong, highlighted by the Phil Spector pastiche Can't Cry These Tears, in which Garbage combines the best of the past and present. So is good pop music always arise.
