Edited 8 days agoSon Dos is a magnificent "purpose maker vs UR" dance floor winner.
the A side though - hmm..honestly I dont feel the first 2 minutes at all, it's kinda too much at once, too hectic / "too everything". HOWEVER
2min 30 sec into the track it gets tidy, or actually much more than that - from this point on it becomes...PERFECT, rebuilding the mix from the strings was a genius move and the remaining 3+ minutes are pure bliss - in the end t really is dificult to pick a fave
// LH 1 and 2 are proper 10-out-of-10 records that, to me personally, were more important than their most popular hit song released on UR. -

The progression in 'Birth of 3000' reminds me of a sped up version of 'Too High' by Stevie Wonder... so dope! I feel like this record is as good as 'Quetzal / Tescat' which is saying a lot

Edited 18 years agoThe a-side here, Birth of 3000, starts off with a very arresting synth loop, sounding very "spacy" like some of the Red Planet records, but at the same time very glitzy. Set next a bouncy piano synth and some woodwind stabs, the effect is amazing. Beamed down from the archetypal "moon discotheque": all white dancefloor under transparent dome, looking down and out and up, first to the setting sun, then the stars, and finally, the earth rising.
The b-side, Son Dos, displays a stronger Latin influence, sporting a denser rhythm, a choppy flute loop, and typically for UR, strings. Here, however, Los Hermanos let the song's elements share the space equally. No specific loop or pattern dominates your attention. Instead, the streamlined groove sucks you in and hypnotizes you.

Edited 20 years agoBeautiful synthesizer pad chords, emotive melodies and soulful strings were combinated with elegant beats and several other special elements on the creation of this magnificent tune. The "Birth Of 3000" became the hymn of the Submerge Headquarters emergeance - and the finest track ever made by Los Hermanos. Highly acclaimed by the public, the track was re-released by the authors on their newest "On Another Level" long play.
