Edited 19 years agoIf you've only heard the more recent albums by the Ozzman or maybe you've only heard him in Sabbath, then the middle-/late- 80s Ozzy may present a shock for you. The first Ozzy I ever heard was from his 'Bark At The Moon' album but this was the first album (vinyl back then) I owned and literally played to pieces. This is a highly melodic yet energetic and pounding piece of metal that Ozzy hammered on 'till it was shiny gold and redhot from the heat (well forget gold, it turned double platinum by now).
From its thumping opener 'The Ultimate Sin' through the melodic almost anthemic 'Never Know Why' and 'Thank God For The Bomb' ("If that's the only thing that's stopping war, then thank God for the bomb") right up to the epic 'Killer Of Giants' and the synth-driven closing track 'Shot In The Dark' this album manages to grab you somewhere deep inside and it won't let go until you've heard it again and again and again.
