Album gives you a real "you are there" sense of space and performance. Wry, intelligent music with one foot in American roots and early jazz, and the other in western swing, with a little jug band thrown in. Dan Hicks holds an original place in the musical universe.

Folk Jazz masterpiece. So sadly underrated. Marvellous work on the voices. So pleasant to hear this. Sun will shine at your home. Totally recommended, "moody richard" is really a gorgeous song and "i scare myself" a really trippy one.
The missing link between the velvet underground, neil young, pentangle and django reinhardt....
