Notes
This boot first surfaced in 2009 between and Sweden. Epitaph, and the band, at the time did no promotion at all for a reissue of the LP. The first official reissue was in 2010, when it became available again in black, limited red and limited white vinyl.
DIFFERENCES BETWEEN OFFICIAL RELEASES AND THIS BOOT:
1) COVER:
- Bootleg cover presents black borders on all 4 sides, while only first 1995 press presents this; all other offical re-release or repress have only 3 black borders (top, bottom, left);
- on right top side, at about 1,5 cm. on the right, bootleg lacks one red dot comcompared to original first press cover;
- on top left side, on the "R" of Rancid logo, there are 2 visible creases, not in the cover but in the picture itself;
- on left side of the cover, about 5 cm in the middle, on the boot cover there's a black smudge not found in any actual original release;
- Rancid colour logo has a pale scale of red compared to any official release;
- back cover is less detailed than original, most noticeable on the right side after Freeman and Reed names, where there are less visible bricks in the wall;
- Left bottom of the back cover presents the "made in canada" logo (like the first pressing), while all official repress lacks the information;
- All this made you think the cover was actually done with a high-quality scan of one of the original sleeves, and not using original artwork;
2) SPINE (the faster way to check if it's a boot):
- The font used on the spine of the bootleg is slightly different than any original releases, and it's a bit bigger;
- Rancid band name is printed incorrectly: if you check it it's typed "RANCIID";
- Title of the album is printed incorrectly: if you check it it's typed ":AND OUT CAME THE WOLVES" and not "...AND OUT COME THE WOLVES";
3) MATRIX ETCHINGS:
- This boot has this matrix etchings: (Side A): 86644-1A (SIDE B): 86444-1B while ALL other press of the original Epitaph release,
down to 2010 reissues (after this one), have (Side A): 86444-1-A S-31747 (SIDE B): 86444-1-B S-31748. So for this LP was used, in any case, another master.
4) CENTER LABELS:
- Center labels are black with white text, and have the old Epitaph logo and address; as Epitaph changed address in 1995, like the cover they
are most probably taken from an high-quality scan of the original 1995 center lables, that, by the way, are black with silver text and purple logo;
5) INSERT:
- Info text is in white lettering, and not red, like on all original release;
- Bootleg insert sheet is about 1cm. bigger than all original inserts.
Unknown quantity pressed.
