Edited 2 years agoIt's A Shame The Volume On This Is Heavily Compromised By Squishing All Of The Entire Maxi Single On Both Sides Of The Record. I Actually Have To Legit Turn My Volume Knob All The Way Up To Hear It Properly And Even Then The Bass Isn't Balanced And It Just Takes Forever To Get This To Sound Good But Once It Does It Is Incredible. One Of Princes Magnum Opuses, I Regard This As The Perfect Example Of What A Maxi Single / Remix EP Should Be. Perfect Mid 90's Funky R&B Pop Music And The Instrumentals Are Killer Too, The Mustang Mix Is Arguably The Definitive Rendition Of The Most Beautiful Girl In The World. The Booklet That Comes With It Is Beautiful To Behold Too. -
This pressing is DEPRESSING. First of all, there is no reason to cram the entire set on BOTH sides of the record. They have somehow (we'll get to that) fit over 30 minutes on a side. It's crazy. At that density the whole thing could be split between sides at 45 RPM. But that density is the problem. The levels on this pressing are LOW. About 1/3 the level of any other half-decent pressing I have ever laid hands on. But that's how they crammed it all on both sides, right? The levels are LOW so the grooves are smaller width. UGH. What a total piece of garbage. Whoever mastered this vinyl should be ashamed of themselves. It's THE single worst wax I have ever heard. -

One of my favourite releases, mostly for the stunning artwork. It looks quite dated now as computer graphics have moved on so much, but back in 1994 this was exceptional. The mixes are quite good, all being re-recorded versions. The later mixes are just instrumental variations on the Mustang Mix and Staxophone Mix. The only place to hear the full-length original mix also. The Japanese edition has a few extra remixes from the UK 12" also. -
Just bought this in Tokyo from Disc Union for 2,300 JPY. Mint condition, in shrink wrap but not sealed. Happy. A treasure.
