Edited 9 years agoFor the single release of Let The Beat Control Your Body, the rough awkward off-beat bass of the original album version was removed and replaced with a much more "down-in-the-mix" bassline. It works much better, for the simple fact that it is nondescript.
The tempo was also increased, and Anita was given a proper chorus which really makes it a single (and not just another album track).
The only thing that's missing from the single (and Extended) version is the fantastic short breakdown featured on the album version, where Anita & Ray do some nice vocal swapping together. It really should have been included.
As far as the mixes go, they are both very strong.
The best is Andy Janssens' X-Out In-Trance remix. He adds a thumping Eurodance kick along with a more driving rhythm, while stripping the track down into (as the title suggests) a very Trance vibe.
His X-Out In Rio remix is also worthy of investigation, as you can imagine from the title it is a tribal affair with plenty of Rio carnival percussion. Kinda reminds me of The Goodmen - Give It Up.
As a bonus, on most issues you got part 2 of Steve Murphy's Megamix. It's very enjoyable, a trip through 2 Unlimited's greatest hits (so far). Very imaginatively mixed, and always a pleasure to listen to.
