Stop selling the 180gr here scamming buyers into thinking they're getting the 200gr!!!

Last weekend I received 2112 B0022371-01 that I ordered online. Typically, whenever I purchase new albums, I record them to my HTPC with Audacity software. The next time I want to hear the album in full, I just play it on my HTPC to save the vinyl.

Since I had a few new albums to copy on Saturday night, I was a couple of beers in when I got to 2112. Side B finishes, and before I could get to the TT to keep the needle from the run-out burp, I hear a fairly audible 'pop' sound. I lifted the needle and turned off the TT and grabbed a terry towel to clean the end of the album. I put the needle back on at the end, and wouldn't you know it, I overshot the last note and FLUB FLUB FLUB my needle shoots across the ultra wide run-out. I turned and told my wife that the album was hosed and it's going back. When I turned the TT light on, I took a hard look at it, and that's when I saw the zig-zag etching and the hologram in the run-out. WTH!

I have never seen or heard of this before, and I'm no spring chicken. I knew I had recorded the entire episode, so I replayed my accidental run-out mistake and thought oh no, I probably killed the needle. I grabbed an older album, and fortunately could not discern any damage to the needle, so I'm thinking I dodged the proverbial bullet. My main problem with the entire thing is, nowhere on the album description when I purchased it, nowhere on the album shrink wrap/stickers, and nowhere on the album cover, did the words "etched", "hologram" or "warning" appear. That's why I'm posting it here.

As for the album, I thought everything sounded clear and crisp, except for Neil's drums. I thought they lacked oomph and stage presence in a lot of his rolls. Since I only heard the album 1 time so far.. I'm not sure how it will sound the next time, or on the HTPC. I'm keeping the album though, I already have one helluva memory with it.

Mine has the runout: B0022371-01 A12 and it's not the Anniversary one, with all the formats...there's some space after the A1 and then a smaller yet distinct 2, or perhaps Z. Just curious. Anyone else?

Watch out collectors! Tons of cheap recent reissues are sold here as 200 gram pressing but don't be fooled, ask for pics of either the 200 gram hype sticker or of the card with 2016 expiration date otherwise you'll be getting a 180 gram later reissue....

A little bit deceived, the take of sound isn't accurate, the soundscape is poor.

Beware . New re-pressings are not 200grm. New repressing are between 170 to 180grm

This album sounds excellent, no complaints here, this is an audiophile pressing and should be played as loud as possible

My copy plays flawlessly. The pressing and packaging are what you want. The hologram is a nice touch. I think I'd rather have a poster included though.

Tons of popping and crackling throughout this pressing on both sides. Even after a good cleaning, the issue is still present. Looks like another pressing is the way to go

Update: Recently picked up a 1976 US Santa Maria pressing and it sounds much more punchy/meaty and clear to my ears.

My pressing came out scratched a little bit on "Overture" but other than that, it's one of the best repressings i've ever heard.
