As many have mentioned already: ‘Wave Forms’ is the pick of the two.
I know it’s stereotyped that the trainspotters will always pick the AA side over the A, but the flip really is the winner here.
You may be thinking: “Surely ‘Drift to the Centre’ can’t be the lesser track of the two?!” but anything was possible with Rupert in 94’.
The mixture of these lovely squelchy stabs after the Etheral pad in the intro, takes the track into a different direction that catches you by surprise on the first listen.
The stabs intertwined with the female Vocal is just too much. It’s one of those magical tracks that on first time listening; make you feel like you’ve heard it before, despite it not being the case.
I can’t say for sure, but I believe this is caused by certain tracks hitting our emotions in a certain way to trigger a feeling of nostalgia. I know others will understand that I’m not crazy, & have experienced this phenomenon before!
Anyway, it’s one of THOSE tracks.
The most harrowing part about this 12’’, is the fact that there are people in this world who could, but instead refuse to put in the effort to get this track repressed again, along with A LOT of other tracks from 93’-95’. It would make thousands of huge fans, really happy.
I know why this is the case, & I know the controversy surrounding GLR, but it doesn’t make it any less tragic. I assume that the physical history of the label is no doubt gathering dust in a lock-up somewhere. -
Left this in a flat along with a whole load of other breakbeat stuff when I moved out. Still kicking myself as this is an absolute beauty of a 12”. Timeless music from Photek.

Look, Drift To The Centre is the obvious stand out track. Its impossible to ignore the first minute of this tune with its sumptuous juicy bass & vocals but for me personally it all about about Waveforms. The atmospheres, rhythm \ & bass are unforgettable.
