Edited 2 months agoHas anyone noticed distortion on the left channel, especially on side A, (A2, A3 tracks) on this 2024 reissue and a lower sound volume compared to sides C and D? I replaced it once at the record store, the first one was bad, the second is better, but still annoing. It looks like a pressing error? Otherwise, the mastering and the album are great. I will probably search to replace it with 2014 release.

Purchased this exact copy as a teen at release date in 1985. Among the three different vinyl versions that I have, this sounds, hands down, the best. If you own the 2014 (Sean Magee) and 2024 (Chris Bellman) reissues, notice how much more, natural, airy and open sounding Bruce's vocals, and Nicko McBrain's drums are on this first pressing. Harris bass in the centre are spot on with its metallic string attack. And for the newcomers a fun fact; Dave Murray's guitar is mixed in the Left channel, and Adrian Smith's in the Right channel.
Today I have seven different variants of this record, including CD, DVD, and Laserdisc. I'd say I know this record inside out, and how it sounds.

This sounds so much more powerful, dynamic and balanced when compared to my original US pressing that already sounded great. This is probably the pressing to get for this album. Wow.

Edited 8 months agoAbsolutely very good Tonpress press, made – as a matter of fact – by old Soviet Melodia. Clear and crispy highs, vocals and particularly guitars. Strong bass, but not overwhelming and not drowning out the rest of this very well recorded, mixed and mastered live LP, which rarely the case with other live albums. Good stereo separation and very broad detailed soundstage. After cranking up to 10-11 o'clock it feels like in a concert hall, vocals and instruments remain precise and clear, bass becomes super spacious – truly pleasurable and inspiring listening... again like at a concert.
For this particular LP pressing recommended elliptical/hyper elliptical stylus. Microline/shibata cut may not sound good enough for all due to emphasised trebles, particularly for people 'raised' with and addicted to heavily mastered/bass boosted CD/streaming files.
Set up used for listening and experimenting: T/T Pioneer PL-570, cartridge Empire 2000E ED/Ortofon 2M Bronze, Denon PMA-757 (recapped)/Marantz 2285B (recapped), speakers ESS AMT1 Heil Tower/Celestion Ditton 44.
Enjoy! -

Getting behind what's already been written about this release, adding that my copy came from a flea market vendor's $1 box; totally trashed-out sleeve, moldy vinyl, figured that I'd hose it off and repurpose the discs as dividers. But a wipedown and a long trip through an ultrasonic cleaner revealed a masterpiece. I am in awe after three playthroughs, getting ready to cue LP 1 for the fourth.
Do not this one up. If you've any love for classic metal, Live After Death is what it's all about. -
I bought this version a few weeks ago. The sound quality is very good. Everything is very clear and detailed. Unfortunately, the OIS is made of cheap cardboard and therefore not very suitable for vinyl. Has been replaced by a high quality innersleve.

Edited one year agoI friggin love this one. From Jersey. Saw them 8 times in Philly. Maiden was the soundtrack of my youth. Love it still and playing vinyl still. So happy I kept all my records! This one sounds friggin awesome. Pressed very well.
