The Nonesuch vinyl releases I've heard have been pretty hit or miss. They're not bad, but they are often not terribly quiet. This one is in the middle, at least my copy.
The music, to my mind, is a bit mixed. Redman's playing is fairly conservative. Mehldau is a bit more adventurous, and the rhythm section is solid throughout. But they were all very young when this was made: Redman was the oldest, at 25. -

I'm completely impressed with the mastering and press quality on the new copy I purchased from Acoustic Sounds. I've had this on CD for years and the vinyl absolutely shines. -

For the music, it is amazing, there are great tunes on this one. My new copy is great, but my first one had some printing issues. -

Nice sound, interesing moody music. Horrible QC, wax left on the lead groove of side three and scratch. I am giving two stars otherwise fours stars. -

Not just a great album musically, but excellent quality pressing on this 2021 reissue as well - both records are flat, and the surfaces are very quiet. I would say this is on par with specialist audiophile releases. -

A great jazz album, which in my opinion should not be missing from any collection.
And yell lust on vinyl, it deserved it. -
Edited 4 years agoGreat pressing! The vinyls are flat and there's no background noise, no pops and no clicks. The music is very dynamic, every instrument has been brought to bear and can be located precisely. Imo this LP sounds much better than the CD version! Nonesuch did a great job here again!
This album was the starting point for some very amazing careers. Redman, Mehldau, McBride and Blade in perfect symbiosis. If you can find an affordable copy - get it!
