Notes
Previously unreleased mono mix of Deep Purple Mark 1's second LP on black vinyl (unlike this one on white - The Book Of Taliesyn)
Both mono and stereo tapes of 'The Book Of Taliesyn' were mixed, but since the band had moved from Parlophone to Harvest in the UK and they didn't release monos at that time the mono tapes weren't used.
Gatefold laminated sleeve. Back cover notes do not say anything about a remix or remake other than it was digitally remastered and that the rights to the tapes are owned by Parlophone Records Ltd.
The original album was recorded at De Lane Lea Studios, London in August and October 1968 and it was remastered at Abbey Road Studios, London in 2000.
Note on the back of the sleeve:

I always loved this album. And this mono version is most excellent in my opinion. I , of course, being bombarded with "Hush" on the radio, and much later listening to the "Shades" album, but it just never really caught my attention. And then cuts from "The Book of Taliesyn" began to be played on FM radio, later at night. That really caught my attention, and subsequently the album became my first real exposure to Deep Purple and their incredible talent. This, even with Deep Purple's later releases which came out and blew everyone away, is probably my favourite Deep Purple album. It just has everything, in my honest opinion, and I would highly recommend it, for sure.

My copy sounds fantastic I must say. Vinyl is of very good quality too, heavy, flat and quiet and sleeve also in good glossy quality.
Highly recommend this release to anyone who want this in mono, buy it! -
This is strangely the only record I have the problem of distortion with. Almost all of the songs had quite a lot of distortion and it couldn't be removed by adjusting the preamp or amplifier settings. I was using a stereo setup with an Ortofon super om 10 and a djpreII preamp. Any ideas?
