First off, the sonics are overall pretty good, unfortunately my copy is slightly warped and side 2 is fairly noisy, side 1 is quiet..the jacket is really nice and the hologram is cool

Picked this up from Barnes and Noble today. Dusty as could be when i pulled it out of the sleeve. After giving it a good cleaning, it plays quiet, plays great, and sounds great. The groovy little hologram on side 2 is pretty cool :)

Edited one year agoThis review is for the 180gr version of the 2015 Sean Magee remaster, bought in North America in 2023, with a "Made in " sticker but without the card. Unfortunately, I do not own a first pressing to compare, but this remaster sounds very relaxed with great dynamic range and smooth, sweet, clear, and well-defined mids and highs. I believe that other listeners describe the sound as "quieter" compared to older vinyl versions, which probably has to do with the very restrained compression used by Magee. It's a fantastic remaster that is ages away from the loudness-war mentality. It sounds 100% analogue, although I am not certain it actually is. But it is definitely an audiophile approach. The pressing itself is quite good, with very low surface noise. It's a release that fully justifies its existence on vinyl and makes one wish that all new vinyl releases were like that. I highly recommend it, ESPECIALLY if you are a lucky owner of a near-mint first pressing to compare the different mastering approaches.

Very good release! Dead quite! Very flat! I play this because I can't play my original release because it is too scratched up.

Edited 2 years agoI must have been lucky and received a really good copy. From the moment I put the needle on 2112, I had to look twice to ensure I actually put the needle down. It was dead silence. I was stunned to be honest. The record felt really heavy (more like 200) than 180. It was ultra-flat on the turntable. As for the record itself, the hole was punched just barely off-center. It's not very noticeable and the playback is not affected at all. Just someone who was in a rush I guess. Although once you notice it, you can't unsee it. I agree with one of the other posts that is does lack a little bit of warmth and soundstage. I think the bass actually suffers the worst of all where it gets very slightly washed out in spots. I actually really like how the drums sound on this pressing. The guitars are slightly too bright in spots and the highs overwhelm the rest of the mix and become ever so slightly distorted. With that said, it's not enough to prevent me from listening to this over and over. It's hard to beat the original pressing but good luck finding one that is actually in mint condition. Through both sides, I never heard one single pop or crackle. That alone makes this pressing worth it in my opinion. The vocals were a bit washed out on Tears but really not much else to complain about on Side B.

This is not analog sourced, it's digital sourced but very decent. Lacks of soundstage, punch and warmth of analog sourced vinyl, maybe i'll keep ir till i can find an analog sourced versión of this album

Edited 3 years agoMy experience with this pressing is not as good as the previous person's post. The sound quality is great, as others have posted, and the hologram is cool, but mine has enough vinyl noise to be a problem. This is even after 2 wet cleanings plus using a record brush before spinning. And I know it's this pressing because I played a couple other albums tonight, 1 of which is 43 years old, and it was less noisy than this one. Although the sound is very good on this record, I cannot recommend it due to the vinyl noise.
