Def Leppard – Hysteria

Here we have a fantastic 80's rock album and sounds great. This Europian made in Holland pressing sounds fresh, warm and crisp.

If you ask me, yes, Hysteria is indeed one of the best Rock records of the 80's.

Why? Not only due to the sheer professionalism displayed by these guys but also the unbelievable catchiness of the whole record.
There are less songs here that weren't blockbuster hits than songs that weren't and this tells us something.
It all sounds so easy to listen and even to play but if you dig deep into the massive layers of production you'll realize that something like this is not easy at all to concieve.

Few Rock records had this kind of impact in the 80's and in the midst of a growing hunger for heavier and heavier music among the Rock community, former NWOBHM darlings put out a Pop Metal bomb more polished than anything by Madonna or Duran Duran. Bold move to make if they wanted to keep their street cred, genius move to make if they wanted to generate an everlasting impact in the showbiz.

I must say, though, in some aspects the production is too much and the spontaneous playing of Collen is swallowed by the effects. I think that in that sense the best Def Leppard record is Pyromania, it is equally catchy and does not sound as worked as Hysteria.
I have seen the documentary now and I realize exactly why I have this opinion.

Still, a very good record and who can forget tracks like Pour Some Sugar On Me, Love Bites or Hysteria? Radio staples that still get their dosage of airplay every now and then.

Fantastiskt good record. Sound is great with clear sound and great bass. Sounds as good as "Pyromania". Happy i saved this record from The 80's.
