Subliminal EP. Absolutely subliminal. This 12” was what got me into UK Garage all the way back when I was 16. In my soul and track 101 I hold dear to my heart, not just as good tracks but as tracks reminiscence of my youth as a teenager. Grant Nelson was, and always will be, one of the godfathers of garage and house music -

Let me tell you a story about Dance MF. It was cained in Ibiza.
You see back when this was released, UK Garage was years away, Speed Garage was years away.
Every type of DJ got hold of Grant Nelsons early work and used it in all manner of creative sets, even House sets, when speeded up.
Mids 90s was a very experimental time. -
Grant Nelson moved from the dieing Hardcore scene to make sublime Garage tracks. The right move.
Track 101 provides you with great vocal stabs including "You got me hooked on your love".
In My Soul is a joyous affair with an uplifting vibe thats brings a smile to your face.
Dance MF is a vibrant track with great presense and a funky attitude with a real disco feel that kicks in one third of the way through.
Violent Bliss is a calmer affair compared to the rest of the EP, dubby with a standard b line intertwined with a small amount of female sensuious vocal stabs. -
Edited 19 years agoOne of the debut house/garage EP's from Grant after he quitted turntabling in the happy hardcore scene. 'Dance MF' and 'In my Soul' are two pretty nice tracks that stand synonime for Grants moves made in the houselandscape, and where he is now (2005: latin/groovy house).
