Does anyone know if this was a digital remaster? The source can be the analogue tapes but it can still be remastered digitally. Any inputs on this would be very helpful! Thanks

Edited one year agoOutstanding mastering on this Doug sax and Ludiwig knocked it out the park on this 1 very punchy and dynamic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just purchased this new. Identical to this entry but includes an additional series of numbers in the runout.

I wanted the best pressing of this album but took one look at the price of the Speakers Corner edition (>$300) and noped out.
As for this one - it sounds excellent. I have the SACD and this one sounds clearer and has slightly better dynamics. Drum kicks are definitely fast and pack a punch. The vocals vary in intensity and volume in ways that you just don’t get on the digital versions for some reason.
The pressing is dang near immaculate and very quiet. Somewhat surprising coming from GZ media. I guess sometimes they get it right. -
I compated this master to an early original MCA pressing, and my homies agree that it has the slightest echo-ey sound...a sort of canned effect. We alternated several times between this pressing and the original. The "sounds like it's coming from a tunnel" effect was very slight, only noticeable via comparison of the 2 versions. Otherwise, this pressing is super quiet, with loads of detail and goosebump-y low end. I would not say it is clearly superior to the original, but it does have a slightly larger soundstage. It's at least a half notch brighter.
My rig is a Technics tt, Stanton Calibration Standard cartridge and stylus, Dynaco tube preamp and monoblock tube power amps, JBL Centurys w/in-line drivers. -
Edited 2 years agoMastered by Doug Sax from the original analogue master tapes. Whether that means cut or not who cares. This thing sounds unbelievable. Holographic soundstage, black silent vinyl, insane dynamics. I can't imagine the Speakers Corner or MOFI possibly sounding better

The mastering, packaging, and press quality are exceptional for the copy I purchased. Definitely recommended.

Edited 2 years agoAgree. This pressing and packaging is top notch! And such a great record. Not one clunker on this four sided wonder! Mine is not dead silent but almost. The sound is super!

They put a lot of effort into this. Great packaging, very clean records (limited clicks or pops). I would give the sound a 4 out of 5.
