Edited 6 months agoMinimal surface noise, which is crucial on this record. Blooms when you want it to.

Just picked this up and couldn't be happier with it. Whatever it is here, maybe the mastering, sounds better to me than I've ever heard it.
-
Sounds great, little bit noisy but not to bad. Unfortunately side A, C and D are pressed slightly off-centre which creates a fluctuating pitch, specially with piano sounds... Will try to replace, but don't know if the replacement will be better.

This is a phenomenal pressing, and from what the audiophile nerds on Steve Hoffman - as well as my ears - are telling us, the LP pressings (at least the versions pressed at Pallas) are a different mix of the album. I am certain the differences can't be down to mastering - I'm A Wheel is almost certainly a different vocal take for at least part of the track. It's a beautiful album but like listening to the album for the first time again.

Edited 3 years agoBeautiful album, both the music and mastering. But this pressing is wrought with noise and loud crackle on the final side - sounds like someone tearing paper next to a mic. Pretty disappointed that yet again the pressing quality is sloppy (happening a lot these days) . The vinyl boom is certainly having a negative impact on quality. It's a shame because it just doesn't have to be that way. Quality over quantity please!

LRS had this one, thankful they re-pressed it I've been wanting this one for a while. My only complaint is on Side A the label is off-center, Nothing wrong with the wax, plays quiet and the music sounds fantastic. Would be nice if it was a gatefold with the extra artwork, but the pressing is good enough on its own to be worth it.

Edited 3 years agoIt’s a German pressing. I played it and I found no issues whatsoever. Yes, the album is not gatefold, but for $25 this was a big acquisition for me personally. The quality of the sound is pretty impressive and I strongly disagree with the previous review. Also, we now do not like cardboard inner-sleeves? Come on...Buy it quickly, because it will be out of print soon & it will double in price at no time at all.

bought a new copy from am*zon and have to say I'm disappointed with the quality of the pressing.. not something I usually find with Wilco releases.. loads of crackle! probably something to do with the cardboard inner sleeves.. whats wrong with polylined inners people??

I was just getting ready to submit this and really have no idea where it was pressed couldn’t find any info anywhere. Not the normal gatefold either
