I have a nice clean sire copy and I'm hearing a bit of sibilance on A Promise. Vocals being most prominent. No problem side 2.

1981 Echo and the Bunnymen - Heaven Up Here
Heaven Up Here is otherworldly, ethereal, deep, emotional (far more personal than their other albums), and consistent. Even though "A Promise" can be picked out as vaguely catchy, the album as a whole is far more subtle than that and keeps going throughout. A much more powerful and richer sound than "crocodiles" thanks to Hugh Jones great production and the fantastic playing. Mccullochs deep, sometimes androgynous croon produces one of his best performances. I find it hard to pick out any bad tracks, whereas even on the legendary Ocean Rain you can pick 2 or 3 from side A. Here there is none of the pith that McCulloch could sometimes lapse into, and the production (Hugh Jones) and performances from all of the band, with some of my favorite bass lines ever from Patterson
Side One of Heaven Up Here is actually quite strong, especially the primal "Over The Wall," which features the late Pete De Freitas going ape shit on the drums. Ever notice how most great drummers are "late?" I actually get a little ticked off that early Echo often doesn't get included in discussions about the best UK post-punk bands or albums. What more were they supposed to do that was within their control? Only the Damned and the Stranglers got this much disrespect.

Anybody have this pressing with a picture/lyric sleeve? Maybe post a picture of it. I’ve got a plain poly sleeve.
