I don't know if 'Replies' notifications are working here now, but yeah, I had the original and compared it to this one. The original on my system was a bit bright and harsh sounding, and this remaster had toned that down some so I found it much more listenable. I hope that helps! Keep in mind too that the SYEOR Rhino releases in January supposedly include this album. I don't know if it is the same mastering or what, but I believe it is only $25.

Edited 7 months agoCan anyone shed light on how this reissue sounds vs. the original US Masterdisk?

I have this reissue, as well as an original promo vinyl edition of this with a hype sticker as well as a "Play It! Say It!" sticker on the front.
That original press sounds just splendid. But this reissue does have a problematic Side 1. I don't agree that it is "slower," but it is inconsistent in of volume. Both that original and the reissue include a disclaimer on the lyric sheet which reads: "Side 1 is much longer than Side 2, therefore is not as loud. So turn it up!" But the difference between sides 1 and 2 in of volume on the original is fairly negligible. Conversely, on the reissue, it's much more pronounced. Not a huge problem, because that reissue is dead quiet and can withstand cranking. But to these ears, "War Paint" on this pressing is several dB's quieter than the rest of the songs on that side. I'd be wiling to credit this to groove cramming, but the volume returns to the same level as the rest of songs with "Scars" and "Presto," which are closer to the center. Has anyone else noticed this? -

Any particular reason why Presto and Roll the Bones were only released in the US? It made them the only two albums that weren't readily available on Amazon UK.

A really good reissue! I personally think it sounds way better than my original press. I would generally go for originals but this is an acception. It is also a relatively quiet pressing.
