There is obviously 'the tune' on the album which has massively stood the test of time and continues to be remixed to good effect again and again..

However, the interesting thing for me after listening back through the album, and that I cant see people mentioning below, is how ahead of his time he was with his drum beats. Truly pioneering breaks and beats that you still hear all through DnB's history up until this day..

Epic is not the word and i'm certainly not bleddy selling my copy. Ever.

Just got my hands on this beauty. And I'm impressed with the sound and the pressing. Yes it's pricey and I wish they would reissue this album, but my guess is they are stuck with samples that are too expensive to get cleared.
      But what a masterpiece.

This masterpiece is not available for streaming on any official platforms in the US. Last year (2023) brought represses of Modus Operandi, Mysteries of Funk and Wormhole. Please repress Colours so we can own, listen, and enjoy.

Caned the CD version back in the day, but the vinyl is a must have for the Doc Scott Metropolis remix!

Such high production values - "Music in my mind" is so strong, cheesy as it might be. Flutes, Rhodes, bass etc, they really invested into that album. You can tell they recorded at better studios then most contemporaries, which elevates the album to even higher standard. The mixing is super crisp and a pleasure to the ears. Just why does "Metropolis" have such a dodgy sound quality? Did they source it from dubplate, like "Railing"?

What are the vinyl gods playing at? Repress for the 21st century please.

This is an outstanding Album and a fine musical journey! From the more Atmospheric vibes on tracks like Aromatherapy and the HUGE Circles, to the Funk of Dirty Harry then all the way over to the Harder darker side with the ground breaking Metropolis and my personal favourite Jaxx, the later being a real beauty and the beast type of tune that IMO, would not have been out of place on Goldie's Timeless album or a heads release of this period. Having said all this the whole album is also heavily soaked in Jazz influences, little intro's and bridge's between some of the tunes, that are not just gimmick, or Jazz and bass for the sake of it?! (trends) ..but are live moments that have real musical quality and relevance to them. An example is how Metropolis evolve's from mini Jazz prelude which is a pretty awesome piece of music in its own right, then to switch it up into the Metropolis's Intro BOOM! Superb!! Jaxx with it's stunning strings is blended seamlessly into Music in my mind also, nicely done. A lovely flowing album, with a couple of darker, harder points. also worth pointing out on the Vinyl you get the added bonus of the Doc Scott Metropolis remix ;-) Adam F has gone on to big things after this album, and is undoubtedly a very talented guy, sadly I lost interest in his musical direction not long after ...for me this is his finest work to date.

This is a great album marking a bit of a turning point in the world of drum and bass that happened around 1997. Things were switching from that oldskool sound to more of what you hear today. "Metropolis", "Circles", and "Dirty Harry" are definitely the standout tunes that have been countlessly mixed and remixed by every drum and bass producer on the planet. Frankly, my favorite is the beautifully soothing "Aromatherapy". The first record gets into some nice jazz style drum and bass using some real kits and sax. Great old sound for this newer genre. Adam F is definitely one of those geniuses in this scene.
