This reissues was acknowledged by VMP as being ADA. As stated it's a lacquer cut from previously remastered digital files. According to World Circuit: "The 2015 vinyl release of Buena Vista Social Club was cut from the original analogue tapes by Bernie Grundman who also mastered the other formats." All the Classic Records pressing are also AAA.
Also it should be pointed out that the 2015 Record Industry pressing has identical packaging (minus the art print and vinyl color). The Record Industry pressing is cut slightly louder as well (about 2db). And it goes without saying that the GZ vinyl just isn't up to par with Record Industry. The Classic Records pressings are all superior as well, with varying degrees of packaging to choose from.
Yes, this VMP reissue does sound good, but I'm not sure why you would go with this version when there are so many other superior versions available. -
Mastering is stella , however, pressing is not good quality, there is non-fills and scratches on some tracks as well backgound noise . It is a shame that a beuty record is press on a non quality control company. -
Another cracker from VMP. Stellar pressing and lovely packaging quality. The mastering is excellent too - very organic sounding - great separation of instruments. Perfection. -

I don't know who the dude is commenting below me, but this master sounds pretty damn good. Some great separation of instruments with the acoustic guitar and drums. Probably one of my new favorite albums to spin, which I was not expecting at all. -
Edited 4 years agoThis is a surprising pick for the Essential Recording track at VMP. I like this album, and the pressing is of very good quality, the usual VMP these days. However, a pressing can only be as good as the master tapes is. I'd dare saying the engineering and original mastering of this record was not 'state of the art.'
I'd say, if you like this record, go for it, otherwise, skip it. -
The vinyl is more like a terrecotta or dried apricot. Beautiful, sound and shade, all the same. -
Great presentation, unique color wax. I appreciate VMP trying to pull off a “Criterion” package. A bit of channel distortion on track D4 - La Bayamesa -
VMP hit a home run with this release. Quiet and package is pretty. Too bad the price hike for their subscriptions are too unreasonable now for me to continue.
