Edited one year agoIt's hard to imagine a situation in which Incantation would release a bad album. Perhaps it is on this day that the world of Death Metal will collapse and all its historical heritage will be consigned to oblivion. In the meantime, the veterans are giving out an album so powerful and bursting with rage that it simply cannot be believed that they have almost 35 creative and productive years behind them. Incantation didn't just unravel the formula of Death Metal or some secret of longevity in the genre. It's just that they are Death Metal. So many years to be in the ranks and have inspiration, motivation to move on... it's hard to say... they were one of the first and I hope they won't be one of the last. The new album Incantation once again puts everything in its place, showing who is doing serious thoughtful work here, and who is fucking brains and fuck around.
Unholy Deification is 666% Incantation, starting with the actual musical material and sound, ending with an impressive artwork for the cover. From the first track, a bear's grip falls on us and a wild predator, without the slightest hint of pity, eviscerates your entrails and brains for forty minutes. It's worth saying right away that the versions on youtube streams or bandcamp don't even show the level of sound that vinyl gives off. The real sound is attacking and dominating, loud. In a way, if on the previous SoVD album the overall sound was more readable and the sharp corners were slightly smoothed, now the emphasis on guitars is more audible, there is more clanking steel. Otherwise, Incantation works perfectly with the depth of sound, the cave echo does not leave them here. As for the structure of the tracks, this time the band decided to abandon long tracks and especially painful slowdowns, the tracks are built on a series of medium and fast tempos, but the most important thing is creative riffing - there is also something to focus on.
It is also impossible to by the masterpiece cover, it turned out on a large scale - Eliran Kantor is not the first time helping the band with the design and every time brilliantly, also very good illustrations on the back and on the insert. Transparent purple vinyl goes well with the cover. It's funny that there is no classic black vinyl in the circulation, but since the industry allows you to make cool color designs, then why not. It turns out that taking into the number of printed copies, purple is the regular version - not bad. The main thing vinyl playbacks absolutely without problems.
No matter how many genre albums are released in any year, Incantation is always in the nominees for the title of best record. Great!
